Robert Schwentke, the director of “R.I.P.D” and “RED” is set to be the new director of G.I Joe spinoff entitled “Snakes Eyes”.
“Snakes Eyes” will be the third film of G.I Joe franchise, and the film will be based upon fan character Snake Eyes.
The first film, “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” grossed more than $300 million worldwide back in 2009 on a reported production budget of $175 million. The 2013 sequel “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” starring The Rock as Road Block grossed $375.7 million on a budget of $155 million.
According to the source, “Snakes Eyes” will centers on the character’s origins where he tries to become a member of the Arashikage Clan, a ninja clan based in Japan.
Paramount Pictures and Hasbro will be the distributor of the film, Evan Spiliotopoulos will write the screenplay. Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis serving as producers, and Josh Feldman as co-executive producer.
And according to the source, “Snake Eyes” will premiere on March 27, 2020.
